FAQ's
- Can I bring a guitar back on the return flight?
- Yes, you can bring a guitar as hand luggage on your return flight, but it depends on its size and your cabin bag allowance. If your guitar, including its case, is larger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm but fits within 30 x 117 x 38 cm, you can bring it on board as long as it replaces your large cabin bag and fits in the overhead locker. You can also bring a small cabin bag in addition. If your guitar is larger than 30 x 117 x 38 cm, you'll need to book an extra seat for it. The guitar must weigh less than 75 kg, fit within a seat width of 43 cm, and not protrude more than 30 cm above the seat. Alternatively, you can check the guitar into the hold if it exceeds the cabin size requirements.
- What happens if my guitar doesn’t fit in the overhead locker?
- If your guitar is larger than 30 x 117 x 38 cm or does not fit in the overhead locker, you’ll need to book a separate seat for it. Alternatively, you can check the guitar into the hold by purchasing hold luggage allowance.
- Do I need a special case for my guitar if it’s traveling in a separate seat?
- Yes, your guitar must be in a case with a handle that can be securely fastened using a seat belt. The guitar, along with its case, must not weigh more than 75 kg, and it cannot protrude more than 30 cm above the seat back.
- Can I book any seat for my guitar if I’m purchasing a separate seat for it?
- No, the guitar can only be placed in a window seat and cannot be booked in restricted seats such as the front row, back row, emergency exit rows, or rows next to these.
- Can I bring both a guitar and another cabin bag?
- If your guitar replaces a large cabin bag (up to 30 x 117 x 38 cm), you can still bring a small cabin bag (up to 45 x 36 x 20 cm) as long as it fits under the seat in front of you.
- What should I do if I need to add a seat for my guitar after booking my flight?
- If you’ve already booked your flight and need to add a seat for your guitar, you’ll need to contact Customer Services to modify your booking. When adding the seat, label the passenger as “Mr. Musical Instrument.”
- Will my guitar be insured if I check it into the hold?
- It is recommended to purchase specialist travel insurance for your guitar if you check it into the hold. Airlines may not cover damage to musical instruments, so securing separate insurance is a good precaution.
- Can I store my guitar in the cabin coat closet?
- This depends on the airline and the availability of space in the coat closet. While some airlines may allow this, it's not a guaranteed option, and you should plan to either use the overhead locker or book an extra seat.
- Are there any restrictions on the type of guitar I can bring?
- Most guitars, whether acoustic, electric, or classical, are permitted as long as they meet the size and weight restrictions. The key factor is the guitar’s dimensions, not the type.
- Can I bring additional musical accessories (amplifiers, pedals, etc.) along with my guitar?
- Additional accessories like amplifiers and pedals would count toward your luggage allowance. If they fit within the size restrictions for your cabin bag or checked luggage, they can be brought on the flight. Otherwise, you may need to check them in separately.
- What happens if my flight is full, and there’s no space for my guitar in the cabin?
- If cabin space is full and your guitar can't fit in the overhead locker or other approved storage spaces, you may be asked to check it into the hold. In such cases, ensure your guitar is in a sturdy, protective case.
- Is there an additional charge for bringing a guitar as hand luggage?
- There may be no extra charge if the guitar fits within your allowed cabin baggage size. However, if the guitar exceeds your cabin bag allowance or requires a separate seat, additional fees will apply based on the airline’s policy.
- Can I cancel the seat booked for my guitar?
- Airlines typically have different cancellation policies for seats booked for musical instruments. Contact Customer Services for specific instructions on how to cancel the additional seat if necessary.
- What should I do if my guitar is damaged during the flight?
- If your guitar is damaged during the flight, whether in the cabin or checked into the hold, report the issue to the airline's customer service team immediately upon arrival. For peace of mind, consider purchasing travel insurance that covers musical instruments.
