Troubleshooting EMAG Motor: Magnet Bars X

Troubleshooting EMAG Motor: Magnet Bars X

Magnet Bars X is an essential component of the EMAG motor system, ensuring precise movement and control in various industrial applications. This guide provides detailed troubleshooting procedures specifically for the Magnet Bars X, designed for EMAG trained Field Service Engineers (FSE) and helpdesk personnel. Below is an outline of common error codes, their meanings, and step-by-step troubleshooting methods for the Magnet Bars X assembly.

Magnet Bars X Error Codes

The Magnet Bars X assembly can encounter several specific errors, identifiable by their codes:

  • 20117: Microstep driver axis 0 (x axis) error – Indicates an electric failure during motor movement.
  • 20119: Microstep driver axis 0 (x axis) communication failure – Suggests a failure in communication between the processor and motor.
  • 20121: Home report: steps lost [axis-0 (x axis)] – An error occurs during the Home procedure for the x axis.
  • 20123: Encoder error axis-0 (x axis) – Indicates an error during movement on the x axis.

  1. Magnet Bar X Movement Test

    • Objective: Test the movement and sensor status of the Magnet Bars X.
    • Procedure: Perform one cycle of Magnet Bar X movement.
    • During Test:
      • Position: Switch from EVEN_WELLS to ODD_WELL.
      • Home Opto: Stay OPEN (due to a firmware bug).
      • State: Switch from RUNNING to IDLE.
  2. Magnet Bar X Torque Margin Test

    • Objective: Test the motor itself and the axis sliding.
    • Procedure: Perform a cycle of Magnet Bar X movement from 100% power supplied to the motor to 40% power (6 cycles in total). This test should be processed without error.

Actions if Tests Result in Failure

  1. Dispatching an FSE
    • If the tests result in failure, dispatch an FSE with the following spare parts:
      • MAGNET BAR MOTOR X (Part No. 6204404)
      • MOTINT1 Board (Part No. 6204427)
      • CABLE FLAT MIX MOTOR (Part No. 6204464)
      • Linear Bearing (Part No. TBD)

Spare Parts Needed on Site

Ensure the following spare parts are available on site for troubleshooting and repairs:

  • MAGNET BAR MOTOR X (Part No. 6204404)
  • MOTINT1 Board (Part No. 6204427)
  • CABLE FLAT MIX MOTOR (Part No. 6204464)
  • Linear Bearing (Part No. TBD)

Conclusion

By following this detailed troubleshooting guide, EMAG trained FSEs and helpdesk personnel can systematically diagnose and resolve issues with the Magnet Bars X of the EMAG motor system. This ensures efficient and reliable operation, minimizing downtime and maintaining optimal performance.
