Moving Home with Plusnet?

📦 Moving Home with Plusnet? Here’s How the Process Works (Step-by-Step)

If you're getting ready to move home and want to take your Plusnet broadband with you, here's what to expect — written just like the conversation you'd have with a Plusnet advisor.

1. Get in Touch Early

You’d typically start by reaching out to Plusnet’s Home Move team — either by phone or live chat. The advisor would ask something like:

"Thanks for getting in touch! We usually ask for at least four weeks’ notice before your move date. When are you planning to move?"

Once you give them your moving date, they’ll guide you through the rest.

2. Share the Basics

The advisor will then collect a few key details from you:

  • Your Plusnet account number or phone number on the account

  • Your new address (including postcode)

  • The exact move date and whether you'd like the service to stop and start on the same day

"Thanks! I’ll just run a quick check to see what services are available at your new address."

3. Check Service at Your New Address

Plusnet will confirm whether broadband is available at your new property. If everything looks good, they’ll schedule the transfer.

In some cases, an engineer may need to visit — especially if the property hasn’t had a recent broadband connection.

4. Discuss Contract Options

If you’re happy to start a new contract, Plusnet often waives any moving fees.

"If you’re okay with starting a new contract, we can usually move your broadband at no extra charge."

5. Wait for Your Router (If Needed)

If your current router is still compatible, you can take it with you. If not, Plusnet will send a new one — usually a few days before activation at the new address.

If it doesn’t arrive on time, you can call 0330 1239 123 for help.

6. Service Goes Live at Your New Home

On your move-in day or a scheduled activation date, your service will switch over.

"Your broadband should be up and running by the end of the day — we’ll send you a text or email to confirm when it’s live."

7. Need to Reschedule? No Problem

Plans can change — if your moving date shifts, just get back in touch with Plusnet as soon as possible.

"We’ll do our best to rearrange everything so your broadband is ready when you are."
