Q: How can I transfer an account to flatex?
A: You can order a transfer using the form “Account/custody account transfer to flatexDEGIRO Bank AG.” Print, fill, and send it to the issuing bank. Processing may take up to 3 weeks. flatex does not charge fees; however, your current bank may charge fees.

Q: Can I open a securities account with flatex from abroad?
A: Yes. You can complete legitimation via video, a notary, a major international bank, or in Germany using PostIdent.

Q: Can I open a joint custody account?
A: Yes, up to two custodians are allowed. CFD trading is not possible via a joint account. Both account holders must have identical tax relationships.

Q: Can I open additional custody accounts?
A: Yes, you can manage multiple custody accounts. Confirm via TAN to access the new account. No additional legitimation is required if already completed.

Q: Can I appoint an authorized representative and what rights do they have?
A: Yes. Authorized representatives can transfer funds, take loans, trade securities, and view statements. Some actions, like trading futures, require special authorization. Details are available in your account under Account/Custody Account > Authorization.

Q: Can I rename my custody account?
A: Yes.

  • flatex next: Depot > Rename

  • flatex classic: Service > Bank details

Q: Can I specify multiple reference accounts?
A: Only one reference account per custody account is allowed. If you have multiple custody accounts, you can assign multiple reference accounts.

Q: How do I open another custody account?
A: You can manage up to five custody accounts. Confirm via TAN to activate immediately.

Q: How can I close my account/custody account?
A: Send an order via flatex classic/next or by post to flatexDEGIRO Bank AG, Pölbitzer Str. 9, 08058 Zwickau. Ensure no credit remains in your custody or cash account.

Q: How can I change my reference account?
A:

  • flatex classic: Service > Bank details > Change reference account

  • flatex next app: Reference Account > Change

  • flatex next desktop: Other tab > Reference Account > Change

Q: How can I change my address?
A:

  • flatex classic: Service > Personal data > Authorized access

  • flatex next: User icon > User account > Change my data > Master data

  • Alternatively, send “Change of customer master data” by post.

Q: How can I enter a new foreign address?
A: Submit Change of foreign addresses, W8BEN/W9 Form, and Proof of registration. Send originals by post or as an online attachment. Online changes only apply to German addresses.

Q: How can I change the custodian?
A: You cannot transfer an existing custody account. Open a new account and transfer portfolio values via the online custody account transfer feature or submit a signed form as a PDF.

Q: How is legitimation carried out when opening a securities account?
A: Legitimation is possible via video (IDnow or Deutsche Post) or eID (German ID card with NFC smartphone). Video legitimation is available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. eID is available 24/7. Both options are free of charge.

Q: How can I be legitimized as a person living abroad?
A: You can be legitimized via video, notary, or major international bank. Certified copies of documents must be signed and, if necessary, company stamped. Documents are sent directly to flatex. Alternatively, legitimation can be completed in Germany via PostIdent.

Q: When will I receive my access data?
A: Your login password is sent via SMS on the day you open your account. Your username is assigned during account opening. Customer number and username are required for login. If not received, request reshipment via email.

Q: Can companies open an account/custody account?
A: Yes, but online opening is not yet available. Required forms depend on the company’s legal form. A one-time fee of €250 applies, credited as order credit if more than five orders are executed in a quarter.

Q: Can flatex open a call money account?
A: No, flatex focuses on securities trading and does not offer call money accounts.
