EnergyPrice Cap
Be Ready for the Price Cap Change
If you're on a variable tariff, your unit rates and standing charges will adjust every three months in line with Ofgem’s price cap. We'll notify you of any changes and let you know if your payments will be affected.
The Price Cap Is Increasing
Ofgem has announced that from 1 April 2025, the new price cap will rise to £1,849 per year for a typical household using electricity and gas and paying by Direct Debit.
If you'd prefer price stability, you can explore fixed tariff options in your online account.
What to Check Before a Price Change
Whether prices go up or down, here are a few key steps to take:
✔ No smart meter? Submit your meter readings – Ensure your bills reflect accurate usage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Energy Price Cap?
The price cap limits the unit rates and standing charges for our variable tariffs (So Flex and So Flex Green). However, it does not cap your total bill—your costs depend on how much energy you use.
How does the Energy Price Cap work?
The cap is set by Ofgem and updated every three months. When changes occur, we inform all customers on So Flex and So Flex Green about upcoming adjustments.
How does the price cap affect me?
If you're on our So Flex tariff, or your fixed contract ends and you don’t switch to a new fixed rate, your energy prices will change in line with wholesale market rates. However, our So Flex tariff will never exceed Ofgem’s price cap.
Should I fix my rates?
We can’t tell you the best option for you, but we can show you your choices. If a fixed tariff is available, you’ll find it in your online account, where you can get a quote and switch. Due to market fluctuations, fixed-rate tariffs may not always be offered.
Will my Direct Debit change?
We regularly review customer accounts to ensure payments are set at the right level. Any changes depend on factors like your region, payment method, and account balance. If your monthly payment is due for an update, we'll notify you via email.
By staying informed and taking a few simple steps, you can ensure you're prepared for any changes in your energy costs.
