Diversions

If I know I’m going to be in, can I cancel my diversion request?
If your plans change and you’ll be home for the delivery, you don't need to take any action. The courier will always attempt to deliver to your original address before leaving the parcel with a neighbour or in a safe place. So, even with a diversion in place, you'll still receive your parcel at home (if you're there).

Can I change my parcel diversion request?
Yes, you can change your diversion request as many times as you like. The courier will be informed of the most recent change you make before they attempt delivery, so make sure to select the correct one.

Can I divert to multiple neighbour’s addresses or safe places?
No, you can only choose one diversion location. You must select either a neighbour’s address or a safe place, but not both. The courier will only receive the last diversion request you make.

Are diversions guaranteed?
Not always. While the courier will try their best to accommodate your request, there may be situations where they can’t make the diversion. If this happens, they will attempt delivery to the original address two more times. If they can successfully make the diversion, your parcel will be left at the diverted location on the next delivery attempt.

How do I divert my parcel?
To divert your parcel, follow these steps:

  1. Go to our parcel tracking page on the website or app.
  2. Enter your parcel’s 16-digit tracking number and delivery postcode.
  3. Choose your preferred diversion option—depending on the service selected by the sender, you can choose to divert to a safe place or a neighbour.
If the sender has requested a household signature, you won’t be able to choose a safe place, but a neighbour can accept the parcel on your behalf.

What’s a parcel diversion?
A parcel diversion allows you to change the delivery address of your parcel if you won’t be home when the courier attempts delivery. You can choose to have the parcel delivered to a safe place or a neighbour’s address instead of your home. The courier will receive an update and attempt delivery according to your new preference.

How to choose a safe place with Evri
To make your deliveries more convenient, you can set a preferred safe place where your parcels will always be delivered. You can either:

  • Log in to your account on the Evri website or app and set your preferences using ‘My places’ to ensure future deliveries go to the same safe place.
  • If your parcel is already out for delivery, you can follow the steps to divert it to a safe place.

Popular safe places include letterboxes, back doors, porches, parcel boxes, sheds, garages, and secure locations.

We also offer a diversion service where you can select a safe place or a neighbour for immediate parcel delivery. If your parcel is diverted, we will provide photo proof of delivery for your peace of mind.

Not going to be in for your parcel delivery? No problem!

Life is busy, and we know you won’t always be in to receive your parcels. While we aim to deliver your package to you personally, there may be times when this doesn’t always suit your schedule. Diverting your parcel with Evri means you can change your delivery and still receive your item when it’s convenient for you!

So, how do you divert a parcel and what options can you choose from to receive your items? We’ve put this handy step-by-step guide together to help you divert your parcel, choose a safe place, and answer all your questions about this service.

How to divert your parcel

If you’re expecting a parcel from us, you’ll receive end-to-end tracking and a 1-hour delivery window as standard, so you know exactly when your item will arrive and can plan accordingly. If you’d like to change your delivery, you can simply divert at any time to a neighbour or safe place. All you need to do is:

  1. Go to our parcel tracking page on our website or App.
  2. Enter your parcel’s 16-character parcel tracking code and delivery postcode.
  3. Choose from diversions options, depending on the delivery service the sender has chosen.

Depending on what kind of service the sender has selected, you’ll either be able to divert to a ParcelShop, safe place or neighbour.

If your sender has requested a household signature, you’ll be unable to divert your parcel to a safe place, but a neighbour can accept it. If our Courier delivers your parcel to either a safe place or neighbour, we’ll take photo proof of delivery for your peace of mind. If we’re unable to divert your parcel or deliver to a neighbour, our Courier will try again the next working day.
